Bullitt Night is produced by Television Motion Picture Car Club member Gregory Harrison with proceeds benefiting Boys Republic, a private, nonprofit, and nonsectarian school and residential treatment community located in Chino Hills, California. Boys Republic is dedicated to guiding troubled and at-risk teenagers toward productive, self-reliant, and fulfilling lives. It is also where a young Steve McQueen resided in 1946. McQueen credited the school with giving him the discipline to turn his life around, and as we all know, he became a successful actor and producer and was known as "The King of Cool" for his on and off screen persona.
The event will take place in the 500 seat Steven J. Ross Theater on the Warner Brothers backlot on Saturday October 17, 2026. That is the exact 58th Anniversary of the release date of the legendary motion picture “Bullitt” produced by Steve McQueen’s Solar Productions and Warner Brothers-Seven Arts. The film stars Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Simon Oakland, Georg Stanford Brown, Vic Tayback, Norman Fell, and Robert Duvall.
Bullitt was released on October 17, 1968 and was a critical success, praised for its screenplay, editing, music and action sequences. The films car chase sequence is regarded as one of the most influential in motion picture history and it set the Gold Standard for all motion picture chase scenes to the present day.
Bullitt also received several awards and nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Film Editing and a nomination for Best Sound. It earned an Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best Motion Picture, a National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Cinematography, an American Cinema Editors Award for Best Edited Feature Film, and a Golden Reel Award for Best Sound Editing. It also received numerous British Academy Film Award nominations, including Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Soundtrack, Best Supporting Actor (Robert Vaughn), and Best Direction (Peter Yates).
This is a rare opportunity to watch Bullitt, as it was meant to be seen, from an original 35mm film print from the Warner Brothers Archives, on a large screen in Warner Bros’ largest theater, at the studio that co-produced the movie.
There will also be a Silent Auction where you can win a flight in a World War II North American T-28 Trojan fighter/trainer aircraft from the Palm Springs Air Museum; a large, explosive, over-the-top floral arrangement with die casts of the famous cars from the chase scene in the movie; in addition to other auctions items including a Bullitt movie poster signed by the McQueen family. So bid well, and bid on multiple auctions, because the proceeds benefit at-risk youths in the care of Boys Republic.
A 1968 Highland Green Bullitt Mustang and a Black Dodge Charger (evoking the chase scene in the movie) will be positioned on the red carpet, in front of a large Step and Repeat banner that will afford a wonderful photo opportunity for all attendees.
TMPCC Alumnus, KABC-7 Automotive Reporter and Bullitt Historian Dave Kunz will emcee the event. The McQueen family will be in attendance and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has confirmed her interest in attending and has expressed interest in speaking at the opening ceremony, subject to her schedule.
Free Parking is on the backlot, next to the theater where we will screen the movie. So if you own a cool car, please bring it so the attendees have some cool rides to check out before the speeches, the silent auction and the movie starts. Studio Security will be on hand, so you and your vehicles are safe.
