With the Crossover Cruise, scheduled for Monday, July 23, 2018, the Motor Press Guild is trying something new – a comparison test driving event. Designed to give working journalists the vehicles and necessary time with each to create meaningful content, the Crossover Cruise makes comparison testing within a vehicle segment easy. Small and mid-sized crossovers are at the heart of the US car market. Now the MPG has created the perfect opportunity for members to experience (and more importantly, cover) a three-way comparison in this vital category.
All of the heavy lifting – from scheduling the vehicles and creating the driving routes to provision of food and beverage – has been done for you. All you need to do is arrive and drive. MPG will provide all of the logistics – competitive sets, drive routes and everything else you’ll need for a thorough comparison, including access to manufacturer representatives.
Oh, and this event is free.
There is a catch, though. We have 36 slots to fill. You will pair up with another journalist, just like on a press trip. You will choose a single segment as your focus. And you will be expected to create content from this event.
People shopping for new vehicles love comparison tests. That means editors love comparison tests. But they are traditionally difficult to arrange and conduct without significant effort.
With the Crossover Cruise, the only effort you’ll make is to come to Thousand Oaks, California, on July 23, drive competitive vehicles in a specific SUV segment, and produce content.
The full day schedule (see below) will ensure plenty of time with each vehicle.
Subject vehicles will be divided into six segments:
Confirmed: 2018 Hyundai Kona, 2018 Ford EcoSport, 2018 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross
