Motor Press Guild members we’re building something big!
What a challenging time to start a car company.
Hybrid. Electric. CNG. Autonomous. Ride-Sharing. The automotive industry is going through a lot of changes–some super-fast, others less so. Billions and billions of dollars are being thrown at every possible new idea. A lot of people aren’t sure where it’s going to end up. I’m one of them.
But I do know what I like, and it isn’t anything coming out now or in the current pipeline. That’s exactly why I started Bollinger Motors. I wanted to go electric. And what I wanted was a truck. But I wanted something that improved on the category’s historical short-comings in traction, ground clearance, storage, and versatility. So we decided to make our own truck, from the ground up.
With that vision to guide us, our core team — Karl, Luc, John and CJ — has been hard at work creating what will be the first all-electric on- and off-road sport utility truck. In a very short time we have fully designed and engineered the vehicle architecture, chassis, suspension, gearboxes, brakes, cooling system, electric powertrain integration and systems software, fine-tuning each to the demands of this particular truck.
By creating a unique vehicle with exceptional off-road performance and one-of-a-kind utility features, we are redefining the truck category. The dual-motor electric drivetrain with AWD system is capable of best-in-class horsepower, torque and traction, while the suspension will deliver best-in-class angle departures and ground clearance. And the all-electric powertrain means no carbon emissions and whisper-quiet NVH, along with ultra-low operating and maintenance costs.
We’re currently building our prototype in upstate New York’s Catskill Mountains and are honored to become part of the long automotive legacy in NY. We are also looking forward to producing the truck right here in the USA in 2018.
Please stay tuned to our website at BollingerMotors.com and social channels for continuing updates on the program, and feel free to shoot me a note with any questions or comments. I’d love to hear what you think as we progress.
