The Motor Press Guild’s 2019 Drive Day event is the perfect combination of passion and compassion. This year’s drive event will benefit auto journalist and MPG member Miles Branman, who was seriously injured in an accident caused by a drunk driver and is undergoing continuing medical treatment. At the same time, the event will enable active members to test drive the industry’s most exciting vehicles.
Please watch the below video about Miles’ journey:

This year’s event, with the theme “Miles 4 Miles,” will be held on Tuesday, September 17, at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu.
Registration for the Drive Day event is already brisk, so to be certain you have your driver’s seat reserved go to MPG Drive Day Registration. Early Bird registration bags you at least $5 off the regular registration fee. Registration is, of course, limited to active 2019 MPG members. (If you don’t know you’re current MPG status please click here.)
In addition to the Drive portion of the Drive Day event, which will bag money for Miles, there will be other opportunities to contribute to this very good cause. Each test and evaluation mile driven by a registered MPG member will increase the proceeds going to Miles to help pay for his medical bills, because the manufacturers will contribute a per-mile donation for up to 200 miles for each vehicle. During the day-long event both breakfast and lunch will be available.
The T-Shirt
MPG will sponsor the sale of a specially designed t-shirt with all the proceeds going to Miles. A microsite that will enable you to buy a t-shirt from anywhere the planet (or at least anywhere with decent wi-fi) will be up and running in early September.
Other Ways To Help
A GoFundMe has been set up to benefit Miles and his wife Christina, who has taken a 12-week leave-of-absence without pay to help nurse her husband back to health following his return to the hospital recently. Donations are being accepted right now at GoFundMe for Miles.
Additionally, MPG will conduct an online Silent Auction of automobilia, tchotchkes, and miscellaneous stuff donated by members, carmakers and other interested parties. Many of these items are one of a kind, so look for further announcements on the Silent Auction. Even those who don’t attend Drive Day can bid on these rare items.
While we can’t guarantee you that you’ll bag a Silent Auction item or a drive in a Supercar, what we can guarantee is that you will have an enjoyable and potentially profitable day testing the latest models while at the same time contributing to the well-being of one of our organization’s beloved members. That’s what we call a win-win.
