To serve “specialty” writers and photographers in the Motor Press Guild, The Motorsports and Car Culture Committee has been formed. It is chaired by Tom Stahler.
The new committee seeks to foster awareness, mentor fellow journalists, develop opportunities, and educate the motorsports and motor culture communities. A mission statement and agenda have been developed, along with schedules, events, and opportunities geared specifically towards niche journalists, with an eye on the larger group to participate. The Committee looks to Identify all motorsports and car culture journalists within the Motor Press Guild, while expanding the dialog between representatives of the motorsports and car culture journalists AND the Motor Press Guild Board of Directors to better understand their unique needs.
The committee has already been working to collaborate with motorsports event organizers to facilitate opportunities for qualified journalists to obtain media credentials and develop a recruiting program that promotes the value and benefits of joining the Motor Press Guild to non-member media representatives during motorsports and car culture events. They will also identify and organize specific activities and events for other journalist members to better understand the abilities and contributions that motorsports and car culture journalists make to the automotive reading public.
Through all these activities, the committee wants to grow the overall participation in the MPG and foster the passion in the beauty and fascination with the automobile in all its forms. All are welcome within the committee, which meets on a bi-weekly conference call and has developed a private Facebook page. To join: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1005524879585256/
