2019 MPG Drive Day—Special Benefit For Miles Branman
For the first time, the Motor Press Guild’s tentpole driving event (formerly known as Droptops and Dirt) will include a significant charity component. All proceeds from the event, renamed Drive Day in order to include a wider range of vehicles, will go to auto journalist and MPG member Miles Branman, who was seriously injured in an accident caused by a drunk driver.
Following the accident, first responders took Miles to the nearest hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, this hospital was out of his insurance provider’s network. This out-of-network treatment, combined with a lengthy recovery that has prevented him from working at his craft, has resulted in significant medical bills. The Motor Press Guild wants to help.
This year’s event, sub-titled “Miles 4 Miles,” will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California.
In addition to sponsorship opportunities to cover the costs of holding the event, each test and evaluation mile driven by a participating MPG member participant will increase the proceeds going to Miles to help him to pay for his medical bills. Participating manufacturers will contribute a per-mile donation up to 200 miles per vehicle. Additional activities during the event will encourage further contributions from attending MPG members.
We need your help to make this “Miles 4 Miles” charity benefit a success.
Vehicle entry fees** $500 for the first car
$350 for the second
$150 for the third
**Note: For each mile put on a vehicle, the OEM will donate $5 through MPG to help Miles Branman pay his medical bills. We are capping “sponsored mileage” at 200, so the total donation will not exceed $1,000 per vehicle (not including the entry fee).
Lunch Trucks $2,500
Coffee Cart $1,000
Snacks & Drinks $1,500
Additional Sponsorship Opportunities:
- Supercar Test Drives
- Silent Auction Donations
- Swag Raffle Donations
- Transportation to the event for the Branman family
A commemorative T-shirt will also be sold both at the event and online (for supporters who are unable to attend). All sponsors that sign up by 8/14 will be listed on the back of the shirt, similar to a concert-tour design.
