Southern California is a major hub for the motorcycle industry, and for motorcycle journalism. Kawasaki, Suzuki, Honda and Yamaha have large offices here; Harley-Davidson, Triumph, BMW, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Indian and Victory all have press fleets here, as do other smaller manufacturers.
In the magazine and website world, titles including Rider, Motorcyclist, Cycle World, Motorcycle Consumer News, Motorcycle.com and RideApart.com are all based here, as are many motorcycle writers. Plenty of auto journalists ride and write about bikes, too.
In all the time that I’ve been a member of MPG, we haven’t had a motorcycle-specific event. That seems to me a big oversight, and one that I’d love to correct.
I’d like to put together a special committee of motorcycle writers to brainstorm and help create a motorcycle event – either a luncheon, meeting or riding event – for MPG members who are licensed riders, or who wish to become licensed riders.
If you want to get involved, please contact jason@motorpressguild.org, and we’ll get this rolling.
