How to Renew Membership / Deadlines
Current member renewals:
By mail: You may renew by mail by contacting the MPG Office for your personalized membership renewal form. If your contact information has not changed, then you simply indicate that. If your contact information has changed, then you may make the changes on the form and mail back. For your form, email membership@motorpressguild.org ... and it will be emailed to you.
OR Online: you may Click Here for online registration.
Failure to renew dues in a timely manner will result in a member's name being struck from the membership rolls; you may rejoin at any time, but only after submitting a new application and the necessary documentation of recent professional activity.
The deadline for members to be included in the 2009 Membership Roster & Media Guide is January 31, 2009. Members will receive a mailing toward the end of 2008 notifying them to renew. New members must have their applications approved by Jan 31, 2009, in order to be included in the Roster. Renewing members must have mailed or faxed their renewal applications by the same date, Jan 31, 2009. You may join or renew at any time during the year, but to be included in the Roster, you must have completed the process by this date set by the Board.
Track Day 2008 is October 22-23. The deadline to be approved as a full journalist member in order to participate in Track Day is September 15, 2008.
Annual Dues
Annual Dues for all members is $60 per year (payable by check or money order to "Motor Press Guild"), and for new members payment must accompany the membership application. New members may apply any time during the year, but since dues are payable annually at the end of January, you'll benefit from joining as close to that date as possible
Membership Classifications and Qualifications
There are four membership classifications in MPG: Full-Journalist, Full-Public Relations, Affiliate and Student
To qualify for Full-Journalist, you must be a working journalist who covers the automotive industry or related fields such as motorsports, the aftermarket or the OEM supplier market, etc.
Full-Public Relations members must perform PR within the automobile industry which is considered to include the aftermarket, motorsports, OEM suppliers, and other related businesses.
Affiliate membership is open to appropriate professionals who work in the automotive industry, but do not meet the requirements of Full-Journalist or Full-Public Relations. Examples would be engineers, designers, marketing personnel and advertising personnel, etc. At the discretion of the Membership Committee, individuals in the automotive advertising field who have substantial contact with the working automotive press may be deemed eligible for Full-Public Relations membership.
Student membership is open to any person enrolled in an accredited college or university in a field of academic study allied with the communications or automotive industries. Such fields of study may include journalism, public relations, photography, communications, engineering, design, and marketing. Proof of enrollment is required.
Full-Journalist and Full-Public Relations members are eligible to vote and hold office in MPG. Affiliate and Student members may participate in all MPG activities and committees, but may not vote or hold elective office.
