    MPG 2010 Track Day: September 14-15, 2010 
    The 2010 Track Day Event Will Again be Held at Auto Club Speedway 

    This year's Track Day at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana will be one month eariier than the 2009 event. It will be September 14-15, 2010. Click here for current information. A few notes:

    • For New Members who are joining the MPG and wish to participate in the 2010 Track Day event, the deadline to have your membership application complete and submitted to MPG is August 31, 2010. This means your application must have cleared the membership committee before August 31, so it is suggested you have it submitted by August 1, 2010
    • Only current Full-Journalist members will be issued driving credentials for the track road course. PR members will be invited to drive some of the other events
    • Full-journalist members planning to drive must show a valid driver's license at registration
    • Helmets are required on track for drivers and passengers. MPG recommends a Snell 90 or better rating


     

    Luncheon Meetings and Speakers: Second Tuesday of the month
    Programs Include Top Automotive Industry Leaders

    On the second Tuesday of the month, MPG presents speakers relevant to the times. Luncheons are held at The Proud Bird, 11022 Aviation Boulevard (Northeast corner of 111th; near LAX), Los Angeles, CA 90045. Tel: 310-670-3093. Social starts at 11:30 a.m., luncheon meeting starting at noon. Member price for the luncheon meeting is $25, and is open to automotive industry professionals on a first-come, first-served basis.     LA Auto Show Keynote Speaker: November 17, 2010
    MPG's Keynote Speaker Opens the LA Auto Show

    This year the LA Auto Show is in November, and press days are Wed. and Thurs., November 17-18, 2010. Kicking off press days is MPG's breakfast and keynote speaker, to be named.     Dean Batchelor Award Banquet: December 7, 2010
    Banquet Celebrates Excellence in Automotive Journalism

    Established by the Motor Press Guild in 1995, the Dean Batchelor Award recognizes excellence in automotive journalism as exemplified by the man it is named after—Dean Batchelor. The Award singles out individuals demonstrating outstanding achievement in the profession of automotive journalism. Each year MPG presents the Dean Batchelor Award to the journalist judged to have produced the single piece of work which best represents the professional standards and excellence demanded by Dean Batchelor during his life as an editor, writer, and chronicler of the automotive industry.

    MPG Power Trips: Spring and Fall
    Power Trips Draw Crowds for a Saturday Cruise

    Each spring and fall MPG organizes a day of cruising with friends to exotic and interesting destinations. Members are notified by email when a new Power Trip is scheduled, and space is usually limited, so members register early. One guest per member is invited. MPG has been lucky to have hosts of Power Trips and private collections have opened their doors to this tour.
