BFGoodrich Tires becomes presenting sponsor of Motor Press Guild's 2010 Track Day

The Los Angeles-based Motor Press Guild (MPG) is pleased to announce that BFGoodrich Tires will be the presenting sponsor for the 2010 MPG Track Day to be held on September 14 and 15 at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California.  The two-day annual event draws more than 100 journalists to test-drive the year's newest vehicles.

TowerIn its 14th year, Track Day is an opportunity for a wide cross section of automotive media to interact with the vehicles and representatives from more than 30 automotive manufacturers and aftermarket tuners over two days of diverse driving activities, networking, and static displays.  Last year, the event drew more than 290 journalists, public relations professionals and invited guests and motoring dignitaries, and featured more than 90 new vehicles on site for test-drives.

Representatives from BFGoodrich Tires will perform the keynote address at the kick-off breakfast on the first day and also have display areas featuring special cars, trucks, drivers and teams. BFGoodrich Tires personnel and guests will be available throughout the event for interviews.

MPG president James Bell said, “MPG welcomes BFGoodrich Tires as the presenting sponsor of the 2010 Track Day event. This relationship with BFGoodrich Tires and our many other corporate partners helps MPG deliver an affordable Track Day event that meets the high expectations established by previous events and best supports the mission of the guild's working automotive journalists. With the participation of BFGoodrich Tires we are on track to deliver the most productive and newsworthy event in the guild's history, one in keeping with my ‘make it fun’ mantra.

Track Day is open only to MPG members and special invited guests.  Those members who wish to register for Track Day should do so by September 10th.  For sponsorship or exhibitor information contact Larry Rusznak, MPG Track Day Producer, at larry@motorpressguild.org.

MPG Media Guide Cover Contest: Winner Announced

MPG announces the winner of the cover photo contest is Tim Considine for his shot he titles "Speed." The photo is of an '04 chain drive 70hp Mercedes, being driven with great aggression by Paul Foulkes-Halbard at Filching Manor, his home in England. In Tim's words, "The cover photo is a cropped version of one of several that day and was quite thrilling to shoot, as one had to climb up and over the seat in the wind, just hanging on as Foulkes-Halbard legged that old Mercedes, which he claimed was timed at 89.7mph by the Filching police (near Brighton)."

We thank all of you who submitted photos for this year's contest, 43 photos in all. That's a record, and we hope we have even more submitted next year.
