Leslie Kendall, Chief Curator of the Petersen Automotive Museum, has been involved in the Concours world for over 30 years. His presentation will cover the history of the Concours d’Elegance from its beginnings in the early 1900s to the present day. Attendees will learn how the Concours d’Elegance originated, how it influenced automobile designers and why it has taken its current form.
Kendall began his museum career as a full-time volunteer at the San Diego Auto Museum, being appointed curator within months. In 1993, he was part of the team building the Petersen Automotive Museum, and was named the curator in 1995, a job he holds to this day. He has spent his career in the automotive field and has judged at Concours ranging from small local shows to Pebble Beach.
This will be a great presentation for anyone curious about how this incredible set of contests got its start.
