CATEGORIES

The Dean Batchelor Award is chosen from among the winners of the Motor Press Guild Best of the Year awards. The four categories comprising the Best of the Year awards are Articles (magazine, newspaper, and Internet); Audio/Visual (radio, television, video, DVD, film); Books, and Photography.


GENERAL RULES

• All nominated works must be in English or from publication mediums in English.
• All nominated works must be the original work of the author/photographer/broadcaster/producer.
• All nominated works must have appeared for the first time during the past 12 months, between August 31, 2006, and August 31, 2007.
• All nominations must be made by MPG members in good standing.
• Members are limited to submitting one nomination for each category.
• Each nomination must be accompanied by a separate official entry form, available on the MPG website: www.motorpressguild.org.
• Three copies of each nominated work must be provided.
• Deadline for all nominations is September 1, 2007
  

CATEGORY RULES

Articles

• Submit three (3) copies of each nominated article
• Copies may be tear sheets, screen shots, clear Xeroxes, or pdf prints.
  

Audio/Visual

• Submit three (3) copies of each nominated work.
  

Books

• Submit three (3) copies of each nominated book.
  

Photography

• Submit three (3) prints of each nominated photograph.
  
• Entries must be unmounted, glossy prints no larger than 8-1/2x11 inches.
• Entries must be submitted as they appeared in print or on the Internet.
• Up to three (3) photos may be submitted from any one article or photo essay.
• Photos must have been published for the first time during the past 12 months
• Nominations must be accompanied by three (3) copies of the original layouts, pdfs, or screen shots as proof of publication.
• Entries must state that each photo submitted is either a single image or a photo illustration.
  

LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Any member of the Motor Press Guild may make nominations for the Life Achievement Award. All such nominations must be submitted in writing to the MPG Board by September 1, 2007. Representative samples of the nomineešs work, or a brief outline of the nomineešs accomplishments, must accompany the nomination. All nominations must be made by MPG members in good standing.


NOTE: If an entry is incomplete or does meet the requirements set forth in the rules and procedures for the Dean Batchelor Award, that entry will not be eligible for judging.
