16 Aug The 2017 MPG Awards are Coming!
In 2015, we made some changes in our annual awards program, the MPG Awards and were really pleased with the response. In 2015 and 2016, we received more submissions than we had in the previous three years, and all of the judges agreed that the quality of work submitted was impressive and notable.
Believe it or not, it’s now time to start thinking about the 2017 MPG Awards.
As a reminder, in order to qualify, an article, video, book, or photograph must have been published for the first time between September 1, 2016 and August 31, 2017. We’re getting close to the end of the qualifying period right now, and we’d like you to make a submission. Have you written or read a great automotive news story this year? Is there a video or photograph that has turned your head, or a book that has informed you and caught your interest? Make note of it – when submissions open (scheduled for the first week of September), you can submit your own work or inspire others to submit their work, whether they are MPG members or not. If you’ve discovered a colleague’s work and think it is worthy of submission, but you’re not connected to them, you can email us at info@MotorPressGuild.org, and give us the details so that we can reach out and invite them to submit.
This year’s MPG Best of the Year Award categories are:
• MPG Best of the Year News Article
• MPG Best of the Year Feature Article
• MPG Best of the Year Vehicle Review
• MPG Best of the Year Video Review
• MPG Best of the Year Feature Video
• MPG Best of the Year Audio Program
• MPG Best of the Year Book
• Bob D’Olivo Award for Photography
The Dean Batchelor Award for Excellence in Automotive Journalism is awarded to one of the recipients of the Best of the Year Award. All of the awards will be presented at our end-of-the-year banquet on December 12, 2017.
The stronger the works are that enter the program, the more significant and important our MPG Awards will be. We see the MPG Awards as a national program, and we’re soliciting works from the best outlets, large and small.
So, give it some thought, and start collecting your favorite works of automotive journalism now for submission in September.
